When the lights go down inside Chicago's historic Music Box Theatre on September 11th, the spirits of Fido-loving film fans will rise up as images of our four-legged friends flicker on screen during the Dog Film Festival!
From the amusing antics of animated animals to inspiring documentaries, all of the family-friendly mini-movies shown during the festival's two 90-minute programs will put smiles on the faces of cinema-goers.
Program One
Perfect for canine-loving kids, the first screening features more than 10 rib-tickling narrative and animated shorts, including:
- The Hardly Boys in Hardly Gold: Famous photographer William Wegman's own wardrobe-wearing Weimaraners star in a half-hour comedy.
- The Lewis Lectures: All of your questions about the sometimes quirky comportment of your canine companion will be answered by smart Spots in this animated film.
- Beta: The tale of an adopted tail-wagger who can take part in chin wags with his human…at least, when he's in the mood to converse.
- Useful Dog Tricks: Enjoy a tongue-in-cheek take on the many ways that your four-legged friend can help out around the house.
Program Two
The line-up of 14 laugh-inducing family films shown during the second screening include inspiring documentaries, narratives and selections with subtitles, among them:
- Second Chances: The uplifting PBS documentary highlights the work of incarcerated women who help to give shelter dogs a new lease on life as service dogs.
- New York Dog Concierge: The tale of a dog walker who promenades with more than 20 pooches from city apartments.
- La Vie d'un Chien: A sci-fi flick about a scientist's transformation into a dog.
Combining Fido-themed flicks and philanthropy, half of the proceeds from the presentation will benefit PAWS Chicago, which has been saving the lives of our four-legged friends since 1997. Attendees can meet adorable adoptables from the non-profit organization outside the movie venue, hoping that they will land a starring role in the life of a forever pet parent!

Admission: Tickets are $15 for an adult, $10 for children age 12 and under.
