You may have noticed the new “Best Friends Ambassador” badge in our right sidebar here on DogTipper; I am so proud to be an ambassador for this organization that is the only national animal welfare organization focused exclusively on ending the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters.

This Saturday, I’ll be taking part in the Strut Your Mutt fundraiser, an annual event that has raised more than $5.2 million for its animal welfare partners since 2010. Along with Irie and Tiki, I’ll be walking to help Best Friends make their national goal of $2.6 million this year.

You can take part in a Strut Your Mutt event in your community by joining a team, creating your own team, or walking as an individual. You can also take part in the virtual Strut Your Mutt Challenge to raise money to help homeless pets in your own community or for national programs to help homeless pets everywhere.

If you’ll be in the Austin area on Saturday or if you’d like to support our team, please join us, in person or virtually! We’re raising funds for Best Friends through our team page and even the smallest donation of just $5 helps homeless pets!

About Strut Your Mutt

Helping companion animals in need will literally be a “walk in the park” on designated days this fall. Dog devotees who not only talk the talk but also walk the walk when it comes to animal welfare will gather at parks throughout the U.S. and the grounds of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah for a constitutional with their canine companion. (NOTE: Several cities will also offer the option of a 5K run).

After strolling with Spot in support of the paws cause, attendees will also enjoy an afternoon of Fido-centric fun which will include raffle drawings, doggie yoga, pet portraits, a Rescue Runway for adorable adoptables, and much more! In New York and Los Angeles, look for celebrity top dogs including Zosia Mamet from “Girls”, Denise Richards, SportsNation co-host Michelle Beadle, “The Today Show”‘s Natalie Morales, “Sons of Anarchy” star Kristen Renton, and more.

A fundraiser which began in Salt Lake City way back in 1996, Strut Your Mutt is an event that has legs!  The participants who promenade for a higher purpose in 2015 will be contributing to the millions of dollars that Strut Your Mutt has raised over the years for animal welfare organizations throughout the United States.
