Pitching the option of pet adoption, for the eighth year the Baltimore Orioles have stepped up to the plate to unleash a pet calendar that will help dogs and cats who have been thrown a curve ball by life.
An annual fundraising venture for BARCS (Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter), this year's lineup of animal-loving athletes who have posed either with four-legged members of their own home team or adoptables who dream of being a forever parent's MVP (Most Valuable Pet) include:

- Adam Jones
- Hyun Soo Kim
- Manny Machado
- Darren O'Day

- Joey Rickard
- Buck Showalter (manager of the Baltimore Orioles)
- Chris Tillman
- Matt Wieters
Last year's sales of the 7th annual edition of the 16-month calendar helped the Orioles give $61,000 for the paws cause. In recent years the MLB team has raised $180,000 for BARCS. For $15 fans can purchase the 2017 calendar online at www.orioles.com/petcalendar, or at Oriole park and the Orioles Team Store in York, Pennsylvania starting August 20th.
On the day the calendar becomes available baseball buffs will also have the opportunity to have their calendar autographed by an Oriole at BARCS. Maryland's largest open admission shelter, BARCS provides comfort and care to more than 11,000 animals in need each year. (The sports stars scheduled to take part in the signing are Ryan Flaherty, Kevin Gausman, J.J. Hardy, Hyun Soo Kim, Chris Tillman and Matt Wieters.)
