April 10th marks the 150th birthday of the ASPCA, and devotees of dogs and fans of felines can help to make the birthday wish of the longest-standing animal welfare organization in the nation come true by taking part in the organization's “150 Days of Rescue” campaign.
Hoping to reach its goal of 150,000 acts of kindness by September 7, the ASPCA is asking people with a passion for compassion to pledge a minimum of 15 minutes toward helping our friends with fur, fins and feathers who are in need.
The multitude of ways that animal lovers can help the paws cause include volunteering at your local shelter, making a donation or by fostering or adopting a homeless animal. By logging your action on the campaign website, you can enter your preferred shelter or rescue group in a grant contest, with the winner receiving a $150,000 grant from the ASPCA.
To celebrate the ASPCA's Sesquicentennial, a line-up of animal-loving luminaries have stepped in front of the camera with their canine and cat companions, among them:

- Kesha (multi-platinum-selling recording artist)
- Nathan Lane (Tony Award-winning actor, star of The Birdcage and the voice of Timon in The Lion King)
- George Lopez (comic star, voice of Papi in Beverly Hills Chihuahua)
- Adrienne Moore (Orange is the New Black)
- Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad)
- Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore)
