#PawPromise Adoptable Dog of the Week: Gailen

Gailen

Gailen
A dog who certainly lives up to his name (which is a Basque word meaning ‘excellent' or ‘superb'), Gailen would be an excellent buddy for a pet parent! A happy-go-lucky guy who has made friends with many of the dogs he's met, Gailen– who is less than two years old– is believed to be an American Bulldog/Pointer.

Although Gailen suffered from intestinal problems and itchy skin when he was pulled from an animal shelter, today he sports a shiny coat and his tummy trouble is only periodic. Thought to be caused by a combination of allergies, improper nutritional care in his past and the stress of shelter life, Gailen has undergone several tests to determine the source of the problem. He is presently on a low dosage of Prednisone, which has helped to alleviate the issue.

Already neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, tested for heart worms and microchipped, Gailen is just one of the many dogs, cats, puppies and kittens who are one step closer to finding a forever family to love thanks to The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, located in Kansas City, Kansas. Established in 1912, the facility has been a no-kill shelter since 1994. Along with finding homes of adoptables, the non-profit organization also offers preventative veterinary care at its clinic, and in 2014 alone spayed and neutered over 3,000 companion animals in need. Humane education programs which pass on a passion for of compassion to the next generation are also available.
