Her opinions on the ABC talk show The View have been known to make tongues wag, but recently Whoopi Goldberg made tails wag as she paid a visit to a rescue organization that introduced her to the dog who now plays a starring role in the Academy Award winner’s heart and home.
Viewers who tune in each week day to watch the Daytime Emmy-winning program may remember a segment devoted to the option of pet adoption which showcased pups from the Chester Springs, Pennsylvania-based Main Line Animal Rescue. One fortunate Fido to appear on the show was Bear, a dog who is both blind and deaf.
Adopting Bear in the summer, in October Whoopi toured the rescue which gave her new canine companion a new lease on life. During her visit she met adorable adoptables at the facility’s kennel, cat rooms, clinic and training room.
Bear’s adoption marks the second time that an adoptable companion animal seen on The View landed a life of luxury with the entertainer. In 2011 the high-profile pal to those with paws added to her fur family a Russian Blue kitten named Vinny, who had been tossed from the window of a moving car on to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York.
