Over the course of NHL history the Detroit Red Wings have won the Stanley Cup championship 11 times. Now the current roster of players on the professional ice hockey team have also won the admiration of animal lovers for offering an assist to dogs and cats in need.
The following animal-loving athletes have teamed up with dogs who are hoping to score a forever home as well as with the furry MVPs (Most Valuable Pups) who play on their own home team for the 2016 Pucks for Paws fundraising calendar:
- Justin Abdelkader
- Jonathan Ericsson
- Danny DeKeyser
- Johan Franzen
- Luke Glendening
- Jimmy Howard
- Niklas Kronwall
- Drew Miller
- Gustav Nyquist
- Riley Sheahan (who has raised funds for, and awareness of, the Michigan Humane Society through the Riley’s Rescues program.)
- Brendan Smith
- Tomas Tatar
- Henrik Zetterberg
The limited edition calendar will not only display the days of the year to come, it will also help to create a better future. All of the proceeds from the sale of the calendars will benefit The Michigan Humane Society, which has provided comfort and care to homeless companion animals since its start in 1877.
