Traveling with Your Dog #Infographic

paris-tiki-irie-beach

As you know, we love to travel with Irie and Tiki and do it as much as our schedule and our budget will allow. Our girls are both large dogs so that means car travel for us–and they love nothing better than to take a car trip, whether it’s a day trip to an area lake or a trip to the beach for a few days.

This week, HerePup.com asked me for a few thoughts on saving money when you travel with your dog, something that’s always on our mind. (And, as you know, we write a quarterly column for FIDO Friendly magazine about just that topic.)

HerePup created a great infographic that I wanted to share with you; be sure to check out their full article for lots of great tips!

Shelter Saturday: March 5

March has arrived, and along with the blustering breezes that are so often associated with the third month on the calendar, shelter dogs from coast to coast are hoping that the winds of change will blow in their favor.

Even if you aren’t in the position to ‘run like the wind’ to your nearest shelter to adopt an animal in need, you can help the approximately 3.9 million dogs who find themselves in the U.S. shelter system each year simply by sharing their photos on social media. Following are a few of the adoptable dogs and cats who we showcased this week on Twitter. For a look at all of this week’s highlighted adoptables and the latest news of animal-loving luminaries who use their star wattage to shine a spotlight on paws causes, follow us at @HollywoodDogs.

Don’t Miss Our New BarkPost Article!

stonehenge-barkpost

As you know, before John and I became pet writers, we were travel writers. We were lucky in that our magazine and guidebook assignments took us around the globe. While our specialty was the Caribbean, we often received assignments further afield, from Borneo to Britain, Malaysia to Morocco.

We loved traveling in Europe and, of course, never could resist travel photos of us at famous attractions…

paris-john-eiffel

These days, our travels are limited to stateside destinations, ones where we can travel with our Irie and Tiki (because we’d never, ever fly them any way but in the cabin of an airplane, and that’s not happening with 60-pound dogs).

But we just finished up a fun travel article for BarkPost, the blog of BarkBox, about “10 Places to Fake a European Vacation Photo with Your Dog.”  We rounded up 10 great places where you and your dog can post in front of “European” attractions, all while never reaching for your passport. We hope you enjoy our new article!

Fido’s + Fluffy’s #FreebieFriday Heads to the Lake!

It’s starting to feel like spring here (which I love…but it does make me worry that the summer temperatures will be right around the corner!) On Wednesday, Irie and Tiki convinced us to sneak away from the computers for a few hours and enjoy a day trip to Inks Lake State Park and the nearby Kingsland Slab:

We even saw the very first bluebonnets starting to peek out along the roadsides!

fido-fluffy-freebie-fridayWe had great fun…but today I’m back to my office spring cleaning project…which is going to mean a LOT of new giveaways in the coming weeks! And speaking of giveaways, it’s time for a new Fido + Fluffy’s Freebie Friday Blog Hop that we co-host with To Dog With Love and CatTipper.

As always, we welcome bloggers to link up pet-related giveaways! Please link directly to your giveaway, not to your home page. (Please don’t link to non-giveaway posts.) We post a new blog hop every Thursday afternoon at 4pm ET. And we hope everyone tries their luck at some of the giveaways below…good luck!

Disclaimer: Each giveaway has its own entry rules. DogTipper, To Dog With Love, and CatTipper assume no responsibility for the legality of the rules governing the listings on other sites and giveaways that are posted here. We simply provide this forum as a gathering place for pet product giveaways to be offered. Fulfillment of each giveaway is done by the blog conducting the giveaway, not by the hosts of this giveaway hop; please contact the giveaway host with any questions regarding a giveaway or giveaway prize.
